Maryland’s Holiday Light Festival at the Fairgrounds

The Maryland Holiday Light Spectacular is a half-mile walking trail of more than a million Christmas lights at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. It is a walk-through holiday light show: no car, no line of traffic, no windshield between you and the display. Stop for cocoa, ride the Ferris wheel, meet Santa, warm up in the Heat Zone. Live Santa every night through December 23, a Ferris wheel and carousel on the trail, and the Horseland petting zoo on select nights. Kids 3 and under are always free.

The Maryland State Fairgrounds sit directly on I-83 at Timonium, which puts this holiday light show within easy reach of Baltimore City, most of Baltimore County, and Harford, Carroll and Howard counties, as well as southern York County in Pennsylvania. Pick your town for turn-by-turn directions.

Advance tickets are cheaper than the gate, and the busiest nights are the weekends before Christmas. If you want room to move, come on a weeknight or after 7:30, when everyone gets in for $10.

Is this a drive-through Christmas light display? No. Unlike most holiday light shows in Maryland, this one is a walking trail. You park for free and walk the half mile at your own pace.
